SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
Eligibility:

All Frisco High School Juniors/Seniors (ISD or Home School)

STEP ONE--Essay Competition:
-
Juniors/Seniors must submit a 3-5 page essay typed, double spaced.

Theme: “Many Cultures, ONE Dream…”
-
Last 3-5 Sentences must include why winning this competition is important to you.

Essays due Friday, December 13, 2024 by midnight. All Essays must be in a PDF format and include at the top: students name, high school, email address, and cell phone number.

Essays must be mailed to Angelia Pelham at angeliapelham@linkingculturesoffrisco.org.
The Top 10 Essays will be selected to compete in the Oration portion of the competition.
STEP TWO--First-Round Oration Competition:

Top 10 Essay Candidates will compete in oration using the content of their essays.

Orations must be timed within 6-8 minutes; note cards allowed in the first round of orations

Orators will compete in front of 3-5 judges; no audience

Top 5 Orators will go on to compete at the MLK Gala on January 17, 2025 for $7,000 in Scholarships
STEP THREE--Final-Round Oration Competition:

Top 5 Oration Candidates will compete in oration using the content of their essays.

Orations must be timed within 6-8 minutes; NO note cards or visual aids allowed in the final round.

Judging Criteria will be provided to the finalists prior to the competition.

Orators will compete in front of a panel of 5-7 Judges and a live audience.

Competition will be held at the MLK Gala at 7:00 pm on January 17, 2025 at the Verona Villa in Frisco, TX.
